Discipleship
At Calvary Chapel Kauai, we are committed to equipping God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up and move on to full maturity -- attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ (Ephesians 4:11-13). We are also committed to preparing believers to fulfill Christ's Great Comission by equipping God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up and move on to full maturity -- attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ (Ephesians 4:11-13). We are also committed to preparing believers to fulfill Christ's Great Commission by equipping them to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19-20).
These commitments have led us to provide a variety of spiritual growth opportunities at Calvary Chapel Kauai:
Quiet Time Seminar
In this two session study, we teach believers how to become "self-feeding" Christians by helping them learn how to have a meaningful devotional life. The primary resource that we use for this course is "The 959" notebook.
New Believer's Class
This is a six week course designed to help the newer believer get a handle on the basics of Christianity. Topics include; Believe the Gospel, New Life: What Is It?, Trials and Temptations, Relating To God, Relating To People, Who Do We Believe In?, and The Word Of God.
Personal Discipleship
We are firm believers in one-on-one discipleship. The long-term commitment to relationship development for the purpose of assisting others in their spiritual journey is basic to following the modeling of our master, Jesus Christ. Jesus didn't just spend an hour or two a week in a classroom setting with His disciples. He extended Himself in authentic friendship to His disciples -- spending three years, day in and day out, training and equipping them in the context of ministry. Because of Jesus' personal investment and poured out life, the disciples were, in turn, able to model their ministry after His (2 Timothy 2:2). We believe that this model of ministry is normative for the church today and is still the most effective and biblical approach to discipling.
Navigator 2:7
This comprehensive seven series course presents believers with a tremendous opportunity for spiritual growth, leadership training and development. The course title is taken from Colossians 2:7 which says, "Rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness." The first book in the series is entitled, Growing Strong In God's Family. Topics covered include; Bible Study, Scripture Memory, The Quiet Time, Setting Priorities, Christ The Center, Obedience, The Word, Prayer, Fellowship, and Witnessing.
